One of the most nerve wracking step of class II preparations is making the proximal box. Still, this will be a very easy step if only you will observe proper hand rests and maintaining a good enamel wall to protect the adjacent tooth. But what if will accidentally nick the adjacent surface of the tooth? If it is a minor nick, use a polishing bur or a polishing strip to smooth them out.
ERRORS
- No firm finger rests.
- Did not have a good enamel wall, thick enough to protect the adjacent surface.
- Used bur to totally remove the enamel shell.
TROUBLESHOOTING
- Small nicks can be smooth out with polishing strips and polishing burs.
