Instrumentation
Burs and hand instruments are your partners in crime. You have to work with them. Even though if you have the best set of hands but don’t know how to use them well will also make your preps look bad.
In terms of burs, there are actually a lot of varieties to choose from – from different shapes to length and diameter. As you go through the course, you may notice that we do not specifically say that you must ONLY use this bur but rather give you a room to modify or let you experiment what bur works best for you.
Though it is rather confusing which burs to use, it is always correct to see what you want to make on this prep and the shape (and size) of the bur. For example, I wouldn’t use a 330 or 245 bur in flattening the floors because there tips are rounded, so I would rather use a 56 instead. Or I will use a 245 bur for extending my proximal box because it is longer compared to 330. If I use a 330 bur, I will definitely make a step somewhere.
So let this course act as your guide on how to start on to things, and then be it as your foundation to experiment on techniques and instruments that will make your work better and more efficient.
