Kilgore and Columbia Typodonts and Equilibration

Topic Progress:
Typodont equilibration means calibrating your typodonts into full centric occlusion where the upper and lower teeth all fit into place without any observed open bite or anything out of occlusion.
As you have noticed on your typodonts, you may wonder why some teeth doesn’t fully close perfectly. Though this is from the manufacturing’s fault or because it is just the way it is, we don’t know for sure, but since we are dealing with ideal preps here, it pays to make sure that everything is in ideal occlusion before we start. Otherwise, your preparations will not be as accurate as expected.
However, typodont equilibration is not entirely a requirement during the bench tests. In fact, most of the schools will give out pre-calibrated typodonts for the exam. So do not focus all your energies to make the typodont fully calibrated to 100%! But since our typodonts are sourced out from dental stores or from your good friend who already passed the bench test, this section will help you correct those inconsistencies on the typodont before practicing on our own.
